Cozy Ribbed Crochet Socks

Welcome to your new favorite crochet project! These cozy socks are crocheted with a thick ribbed pattern, perfect for keeping your feet warm during chilly days. With a cuff-down construction and a snug fit, these socks are not only functional but also stylish. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this pattern is designed to guide you through every step of the process.

Materials Needed

  • Yarn: Super bulky weight yarn in cream
  • Crochet Hook: 9.0 mm crochet hook
  • Gauge: 8 stitches and 6 rows = 4 inches in ribbed pattern

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Cuff

Start by creating the cuff of the sock:

  1. Chain 24 stitches. Make sure your chain is not twisted.
  2. Join the last chain to the first chain with a slip stitch to form a ring.

2. Ribbing

Now, we will create the ribbed texture:

  1. Work in the back loop only (BLO) single crochet (sc) around the ring for 6 rounds. This will create a nice stretchy ribbed cuff.

3. Leg

Next, we will build the leg of the sock:

  1. Continue working in BLO sc, increasing 1 stitch every 4th stitch for a total of 10 rounds. To increase, simply do 2 sc in the same stitch every 4th stitch.

4. Heel

Now, let’s shape the heel:

  1. Divide your total stitches in half. If you have 36 stitches, you will work with 18 stitches.
  2. Work back and forth in rows of BLO sc for 6 rows. Do not join at the end of each row; turn your work instead.

5. Foot

It’s time to create the foot of the sock:

  1. Rejoin your yarn in the round, making sure to pick up the stitches from the heel.
  2. Continue in BLO sc for 20 rounds or until you reach your desired foot length. Remember to check your gauge to ensure a proper fit.

6. Toe

Finally, we will finish off the sock:

  1. Decrease 1 stitch every 4th stitch for 4 rounds. To decrease, work 2 sc together.
  2. Then, decrease every 2nd stitch until you have 6 stitches remaining.
  3. Fasten off your yarn and weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle.

Congratulations! You have successfully crocheted your very own cozy ribbed socks. Enjoy wearing them or gift them to someone special!
