DK (#3) weight yarn in variegated autumn colors (60-80 yards)
Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
Tapestry needle
Scissors

Gauge

10 stitches x 8 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch

Sizing

Toddler: 18-20” head circumference
Child: 20-21” head circumference
Adult: 21-22” head circumference

ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
blo: back loop only

Instructions

Foundation Row

Ch 20 (24, 28) depending on size. Join with sl st to form a ring, being careful not to twist. Ch 1.

Round 1

In blo, sc in each ch around. Join with sl st to first sc. Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout). [20 (24, 28) sc]

Round 2

Dc in first stitch, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-2. [20 (24, 28) dc]

Round 3

Sc in each st across. Join with sl st to first sc. Ch 2. [20 (24, 28) sc]

Round 4

In blo, *dc in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-2.

Round 5

Repeat Round 3.

Round 6

Repeat Round 2.

Final Round

Sc in blo of each st around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends using tapestry needle.
