Whimsical Radiant Circle Mandala Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn in assorted colors (4-5 colors recommended)
- 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch marker
Gauge: Not critical for this pattern, but aim for a similar tension to ensure parts fit well.
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- tr - treble crochet
- sk - skip
- sp - space
- sl st - slip stitch
- repeat - rep
- rnd - round
- FPdc - front post double crochet
- BPdc - back post double crochet
Instructions:
Center Circle
- Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring.
- Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into the ring. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. (12 dc)
- Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each dc around. Join (24 dc)
First Layer
- Rnd 3: Ch 1, *sc in next dc, ch 2, sk 1 dc; repeat from * around. Join (12 ch-2 sp)
Second Layer
- Rnd 4: Sl st to first ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp (first cluster), *3 dc in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * around. Join (36 dc)
Petals
- Rnd 5: Ch 1, (sc, ch 5, sc) in each cluster around for petals. Join (12 petals)
Final Round
- Rnd 6: Ch 1, *FPdc around the next petal, BPdc around the next petal; repeat from * around. Join.
Finishing: Weave in all ends. Block your mandala to ensure it lays flat and the colors pop.
