Whimsical Textured Twinkle Star Stocking

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn (approx. 300 yards in main color, 50 yards in contrasting color)
• 5.0 mm crochet hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers

Gauge: 16 stitches x 20 rows = 4" in double crochet (DC)

Instructions:

Stocking Body:

• Chain 52.
• Row 1: DC in the 4th chain from the hook and in each chain across. (50 DC)
• Row 2-10: Ch 3, turn. DC in each stitch across.
• Row 11: Ch 3, turn. *DC in next 2 stitches, DC2tog; repeat from * across.
• Row 12-14: Ch 3, turn. DC in each stitch across.
• Row 15: Ch 3, turn. *(DC into next stitch, skip next stitch); repeat from * across.
• Row 16: Ch 3, turn. DC in each of the skipped stitches across.
• Row 17-20: Ch 3, turn. DC in each stitch across.
• Row 21: Ch 1, turn. SC in each stitch across.
• Fasten off.

Stocking Cuff:

• Using contrasting color, attach yarn to the top edge of the stocking.
• Row 1: Ch 2, FPDC in the first stitch, BPDC in the next; repeat around.
• Row 2: Ch 2, repeat Row 1 for 5 more rows.
• Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Star Motif (Make 5):

• Chain 4, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
• Round 1: Ch 1, 10 SC in the ring; join.
• Round 2: Ch 1, *SC in first stitch, HDC in next, DC in next, HDC in next; repeat from * around; join.
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:

• Attach the star motifs evenly around the body of the stocking using the long tail and tapestry needle.
• For hanging, create a chain of 15 and attach to the top cuff.
