Sizes

Instructions are written for Small (Women's 5-7), with changes for Medium (Women's 8-10) and Large (Women's 11-13) in parentheses.

Pattern Notes

Slipper (Make 2)

Cuff

With Color A, CO 40 (44, 48) sts.

  • Row 1 (RS): *K2, P2; repeat from * to end.
  • Row 2 (WS): *K2, P2; repeat from * to end.

Repeat Rows 1-2 for 1.5 inches, ending with a WS row.

Heel Flap

Worked back and forth on half the stitches. Place the first 20 (22, 24) sts on a holder for the instep. Work on the remaining 20 (22, 24) sts.

  • Row 1 (RS): Slip 1, K to end.
  • Row 2 (WS): Slip 1, P to end.

Repeat Rows 1-2 for 2 (2.5, 3) inches, ending with a WS row.

Turn Heel

  • Row 1 (RS): Slip 1, K 12 (13, 14), SSK, K1, turn.
  • Row 2 (WS): Slip 1, P 5 (6, 7), P2tog, P1, turn.
  • Row 3: Slip 1, K to 1 st before the gap, SSK (knit the st before the gap and the st after the gap together), K1, turn.
  • Row 4: Slip 1, P to 1 st before the gap, P2tog, P1, turn.

Repeat Rows 3-4 until all heel sts are worked. You will have 12 (14, 16) sts.

Gusset

With RS facing, pick up and knit 10 (11, 12) sts along the left side of the heel flap. Knit across the 20 (22, 24) instep sts from the holder. Pick up and knit 10 (11, 12) sts along the right side of the heel flap. Knit across the 12 (14, 16) heel sts. Total sts: 52 (58, 64).

Mosaic Pattern (Worked in the round on DPNs or magic loop)

  • Round 1: With Color B, *K1, slip 1 wyib; repeat from * to end.
  • Round 2: With Color B, *P1, slip 1 wyif; repeat from * to end.
  • Round 3: With Color A, *slip 1 wyib, K1; repeat from * to end.
  • Round 4: With Color A, *slip 1 wyif, P1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat Rounds 1-4 for the gusset decreases.

Gusset Decreases

Work in mosaic pattern as established.

  • Round 1: Work to last 3 sts of the first half of the round (heel side), K2tog, K1. Work across instep sts. On the second half of the round (heel side), K1, SSK, work to end.

Repeat this decrease round every other round until 40 (44, 48) sts remain.

Foot

Continue working in mosaic pattern (Rounds 1-4) on all sts until the slipper measures 7 (8, 9) inches from the back of the heel, or desired length to the toe.

Toe Shaping

Switch to working in stockinette stitch (knit every round) with Color A.

  • Round 1: *K2, K2tog; repeat from * to end. (30, 33, 36 sts)
  • Round 2: Knit.
  • Round 3: *K1, K2tog; repeat from * to end. (20, 22, 24 sts)
  • Round 4: Knit.
  • Round 5: *K2tog; repeat from * to end. (10, 11, 12 sts)

Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining sts, pull tight, and secure. Weave in ends.

Finishing

Sew the back seam of the cuff and heel flap. Weave in all ends. Block lightly to shape.
