Instructions

  1. Cast On: CO 24 stitches using the long tail cast on method.
  2. Join in the Round: Carefully connect to knit in the round, being cautious not to twist your stitches. Place a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of the round.
  3. First Round: Knit every stitch (k) around (24 stitches total).
  4. Second Round: Purl every stitch (p) around (24 stitches total).
  5. Repeat: Continue alternating between knitting and purling every round, making a total of 10 rounds (5 knitted rounds and 5 purl rounds).
  6. Square Shaping: Now you will work in the following pattern to create the square shape:
    • Next Round: k1, p1 around (24 stitches total).
    • Next Round: k2, p1 around (24 stitches total).
    • Next Round: k3, p1 around (24 stitches total).
    • Next Round: k4, p1 around (24 stitches total).
    • Continue this pattern until you reach k12, p1.
  7. Bind Off: Once you have completed the desired height (approximately 6 inches), bind off using a loose bind-off method.
  8. Finishing: Cut a long tail (about 12 inches) and weave in any loose ends using the tapestry needle. You may also add a small decorative tag or embellishment if desired.
  9. Blocking: Lightly block your pouch to shape it into a neat square if needed.

And there you have it! Your stunning wooly square pouch is complete. Use it for storing small items, or give it as a thoughtful gift. Enjoy your knitting!
