Colorful Granny Stripe Blanket

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in various colors (approximately 200g each of pink, blue, orange, yellow, and white)
  • Crochet hook size H/8 (5mm)
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge

Gauge is not critical for this project, but approximately 4 granny stripe rows (8 sts pattern repeat) = 4 inches.

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet
  • sc: single crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch

Instructions

Foundation Row

  1. Using the first color (pink), ch 141 or desired width of blanket.

Row 1

  1. In the 4th ch from hook, work 3 dc. *Skip 2 ch, work 3 dc in next ch. Repeat from * to last 3 ch, skip 2 ch, 1 dc in last ch. Turn.

Row 2

  1. Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc in the space between clusters of previous row. Repeat 3 dc clusters between each cluster across. Finish with 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.

Row 3

  1. Change to next color (blue). Repeat Row 2.

Remaining Rows

  1. Repeat Row 2, changing colors every 2 rows in this order: pink, blue, orange, yellow, and white.

Finishing

  1. Once the desired length is reached, finish with 1 row of sc in each stitch across.
  2. Fasten off and weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.

Notes

  • The blanket can be adjusted in size by increasing or decreasing the foundation chain in multiples of 3.
  • Feel free to arrange the colors to your preference for a custom look.
