Abbreviations

- P: Purl
- St(s): Stitch(es)
- Rnd: Round
- K2tog: Knit 2 stitches together
Instructions
- Begin with the Brim
- CO 96 sts using the long tail cast on method.
- Place marker and join in the round, being careful not to twist your stitches.
- Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 4 inches to create the fold-over brim.
- Body of the Hat
- Continue in K all sts for 5 more inches. The total length from the cast-on edge should be about 9 inches.
- Shape the Crown
- Switch to double-pointed needles as needed.
- Rnd 1: (K10, K2tog) repeat around.
- Rnd 2: Knit.
- Rnd 3: (K9, K2tog) repeat around.
- Rnd 4: Knit.
- Continue decreasing in this manner, reducing by 1 stitch before each K2tog on every odd round, and knitting all even rounds, until approximately 16 stitches remain.
- Finishing
- Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the hat.
- Weave in all loose ends using the tapestry needle.
Final Touches
Turn up the brim of the beanie and block lightly if desired to shape.
