Crochet Cherry Amigurumi
These charming crochet cherries make a wonderful addition to your home decor or a delightful toy for children. Using basic crochet techniques, even beginners can create these fun, vibrant cherries!
Materials Needed:
- Yarn: Medium weight (4) yarn in Cherry Red and Light Brown
- Hook: 3.5 mm crochet hook (or size needed for your gauge)
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
Not critical for this project, but aim for about 6 stitches per inch with your crochet hook.
Abbreviations:
- CH - Chain
- SC - Single Crochet
- INC - Increase (2 SC in the same stitch)
- DEC - Decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
- SL ST - Slip Stitch
Step-by-Step Instructions:
For Each Cherry:
- Start with Cherry Red Yarn:
- Make a magic circle.
- Round 1: 6 SC in the magic circle (6 stitches).
- Round 2: INC in each stitch around (12 stitches).
- Round 3: (1 SC, INC) repeat around (18 stitches).
- Round 4: (2 SC, INC) repeat around (24 stitches).
- Rounds 5-7: SC in each stitch around (24 stitches each round).
- Round 8: (2 SC, DEC) repeat around (18 stitches).
- Round 9: (1 SC, DEC) repeat around (12 stitches).
- Stuff the cherry with fiberfill at this point.
- Round 10: DEC around (6 stitches).
- Fasten off and weave the end into the cherry.
- For Each Stem:
- Using Light Brown Yarn, CH 10.
- SL ST in the 2nd chain from the hook, then SL ST across to the last chain.
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
- Assembly:
- Take the stem and sew it on top of each cherry securely.
- Add a bow if desired by using leftover yarn and tying it around the stem.
Finishing Touch:
For an extra sparkle, you can add a drop of fabric paint to mimic shine on each cherry!
