Crochet Cherry Amigurumi

These charming crochet cherries make a wonderful addition to your home decor or a delightful toy for children. Using basic crochet techniques, even beginners can create these fun, vibrant cherries!

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn: Medium weight (4) yarn in Cherry Red and Light Brown
  • Hook: 3.5 mm crochet hook (or size needed for your gauge)
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:

Not critical for this project, but aim for about 6 stitches per inch with your crochet hook.

Abbreviations:

  • CH - Chain
  • SC - Single Crochet
  • INC - Increase (2 SC in the same stitch)
  • DEC - Decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
  • SL ST - Slip Stitch

Step-by-Step Instructions:

For Each Cherry:

  1. Start with Cherry Red Yarn:
    1. Make a magic circle.
    2. Round 1: 6 SC in the magic circle (6 stitches).
    3. Round 2: INC in each stitch around (12 stitches).
    4. Round 3: (1 SC, INC) repeat around (18 stitches).
    5. Round 4: (2 SC, INC) repeat around (24 stitches).
    6. Rounds 5-7: SC in each stitch around (24 stitches each round).
    7. Round 8: (2 SC, DEC) repeat around (18 stitches).
    8. Round 9: (1 SC, DEC) repeat around (12 stitches).
    9. Stuff the cherry with fiberfill at this point.
    10. Round 10: DEC around (6 stitches).
    11. Fasten off and weave the end into the cherry.
  2. For Each Stem:
    1. Using Light Brown Yarn, CH 10.
    2. SL ST in the 2nd chain from the hook, then SL ST across to the last chain.
    3. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
  3. Assembly:
    1. Take the stem and sew it on top of each cherry securely.
    2. Add a bow if desired by using leftover yarn and tying it around the stem.

Finishing Touch:

For an extra sparkle, you can add a drop of fabric paint to mimic shine on each cherry!
