Materials Needed

• Crochet cotton thread size #3 or similar
• Steel crochet hook US size 1/2.75 mm
• Liquid starch for stiffening
• Blocking mat and rustproof pins

Abbreviations

• Ch – Chain
• Rnd – Round

Instructions

Heart Center

1. Ch 6, join with a Sl St to form a ring.
2. Rnd 1: Ch 1, 12 SC into ring, join with Sl St in first SC.
3. Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as DC), DC in same St, (Ch 2, 2 DC in next St) 11 times, Ch 2, join with Sl St to top of Ch-3.

Heart Shape

3. Rnd 3: Ch 1, SC in each DC and 2 SC in each Ch-2 space around, join with Sl St.
4. Rnd 4: Ch 3, DC in same St, (Ch 3, skip 1 St, 2 DC in next St) around, join with Sl St.
5. Rnd 5: Ch 1, SC in each St and Ch-3 space around, join with Sl St.
6. Rnd 6: Form heart shape using treble crochets at the center top, working around to form the curve of the heart as desired.

Finishing

7. Attach yarn to center top of the heart, Ch 20, Sl St back to form a loop for hanging, fasten off.
8. Weave in all ends. Block and stiffen with liquid starch for best shape retention.
