Materials Needed

• Yarn: Gradient yarn in DK weight, approximately 1000 yards (color flow from cream to deep purple)
• Crochet Hook: Size G/4.0mm
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• Scissors

Gauge

4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm) = 18 sts and 14 rows in pattern stitch

Finished Size

Approximately 70 inches across the longest side and 20 inches at the widest point.

Pattern

Base Section

1. Row 1: Ch 4, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook. Turn. (3 dc)
2. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in top of first dc, 1 dc in each dc across, 2 dc in top of turning ch. Turn. (5 dc)
3. Rows 3-5: Repeat Row 2, increasing 2 dc each row. (11 dc at end of Row 5)
4. Row 6: Ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st; repeat from * across, ending with 2 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
5. Rows 7-10: Repeat Row 6, maintaining the pattern of increase at one side.

Lace Section

11. Row 11: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2), skip 1 st, dc in next st, *ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in next st; repeat from * across, ending with 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
12. Row 12: Ch 3, sc in first ch sp, *ch 3, sc in next ch sp; repeat from * across. Turn.
13. Row 13: Ch 4, *2 dc in next ch sp, ch 1; repeat from * across, ending with 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
14. Row 14: Repeat Row 12.

Finishing

15. Repeat Base and Lace sections, alternating as desired, until shawl reaches the desired length and width.
16. Fasten off and weave in all ends with the tapestry needle.
17. Block the shawl with light steam to set the stitches and even out the edges, allowing the lace sections to open.

Edging

18. Row 1: With RS facing, attach yarn to any corner. Ch 3, 1 dc in each stitch along the edge, cont the same across the entire border.
19. Finishing: Fasten off and weave in ends.
