Finished Size: Approximately 60 inches wide and 30 inches deep.
Materials Needed:
- Gradated yarn: Lightweight/DK yarn in gradient colorway (approximately 1000 yards)
- Crochet hook: Size I/5.5mm
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations (US terms):

Instructions:
Foundation: Ch 5, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, 3 dc in ring. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in each dc across to ch-2 sp, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, dc in each dc across, 2 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as tr), 2 tr in same st, ch 2, *skip 3 sts, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next st, ch 2*, repeat * to * until ch-2 sp at the center, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch-2 sp, ch 2, rep * to * across, 3 tr in top of turning ch. Turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the shawl measures approximately 30 inches deep or desired length, ending with a Row 3.
Edging: Ch 1, sc around the entire shawl evenly, making sure to place 3 sc in each corner. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc.
Fasten off and weave in all ends with tapestry needle.
Finishing: Block the shawl to open up the lace pattern and to shape it.
