Enchanted Forest Filigree Shawl with Hood

Materials:

• Yarn: 3 skeins of lightweight lace yarn, suggested in forest green with a sparkly finish
• Hook: 3.5 mm crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Gauge:

16 stitches = 4 inches in lace pattern.

Finished Size:

Approximately 60 inches wide and 30 inches deep without the hood.

Instructions:

Shawl Body:

1. Chain 104 to start.
2. Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook, ch 2. *Skip 2 chains, dc in next chain, ch 2; repeat from * across (end with dc in the last chain).
3. Row 2: Ch 3, turn. *In the next ch-2 space, make (dc, ch 2, dc); repeat from * across ending with a dc in the top of the turning chain.
4. Row 3: Repeat Row 2 until you reach 25 inches in height.
5. Next Rows: Begin to shape the shawl by decreasing: Ch 3, turn, make dc in next stitch, ch 2, *skip 2 stitches, make dc in next, ch 2; repeat from * across, ending with dc in the last stitch.
6. Continue this pattern, decreasing until you have a total of 10 rows left to complete.
7. Finish with a row of dc in each stitch, then fasten off.

Hood:

1. Chain 50 for the hood base.
2. Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook, ch 2. *Skip 2 chains, dc in next, ch 2; repeat from * ending with dc in the last chain.
3. Row 2: Ch 3, turn. Repeat pattern until the hood reaches your desired length, approximately 12 inches.
4. Fold hood in half and seam the edges together. Attach to the shawl at the top point.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends securely. Block the shawl to open up the lace design and enhance the overall shape.
