Instructions
Step 1: Making the Waistband
- Chain (ch) 90 (or adjust for your waist size). Join with a slip stitch (sl st) to form a ring, being careful not to twist the chain.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each ch around (total 90 dc), join with sl st to top of ch 3.
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in the same stitch, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next stitch; repeat from * around. (Total 135 dc), join with sl st.
- Rounds 3-4: Ch 3, dc in each dc around (total 135 dc), join with sl st.
Step 2: Starting the Lace Pattern
- Round 5: Ch 3, 1 dc in the next stitch, *ch 2, sk 2 stitches, 1 dc in the next 2 stitches; repeat from * around. Adjust as you continue to prevent the lace from becoming too tight.
- Join with sl st. You should see a lace effect beginning to form.
Step 3: Continue the Lace Body
- Round 6: Repeat the lace pattern for 12 more rounds, keeping consistent with the ch 2 and skipping 2 stitches for an open lace effect.
- Check the length periodically; you can adjust the number of rounds based on your desired skirt length.
Step 4: Finishing the Skirt
- For the final round, ch 1, sc in each stitch around to create a finished edge.
- Fasten off the yarn and weave in all ends using a tapestry needle.
Step 5: Embellishing (optional)
- You can add a decorative border or fringes at the bottom for a personalized touch.
Final Measurements
The skirt length can be adjusted according to preference; aim for around 34-36 inches from the waistband to the bottom edge for a maxi style.
