Materials

  • Medium-weight yarn (4 skeins)
  • Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge

12 double crochets and 7 rows = 4 inches.

Finished Size

Approximately 40 inches x 50 inches.

Stitches Used

  • Chain (ch)
  • Double crochet (dc)
  • Shell stitch: 5 dc in the same stitch

Pattern Instructions

Starting Chain: Ch 138.

Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across. (136 dc)

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn. Dc in each dc across.

Row 3: Ch 3, turn. (Dc, ch 1, dc) in the first dc, *dc in the next 5 dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next dc; repeat from * across, ending with dc in the last 3 dc.

Rows 4-50: Repeat Row 3 until desired length is achieved.

Shell Stitch Edging: Once the body is complete, switch to shell stitch: Ch 1, sc in the first dc, *5 dc in the next ch space, sc in the next dc; repeat from * around the entire blanket. Slip stitch to join.

Finishing
