Crochet Whimsical Starfish Bookmark Clip Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in two colors (e.g., coral and aqua)
• 4.0 mm crochet hook
• Standard 2-inch paper clip
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• dc = double crochet
• sl st = slip stitch
• st = stitch

Instructions:

Starfish Body

1. Ch 5, sl st into the first ch to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 1, work 6 sc into the ring, sl st to join.
3. Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around (12 sc total), sl st to join.
4. Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (18 sc total), sl st to join.

Arms

5. Continue from Round 3 without breaking yarn. 
6. Arm 1: Ch 4, dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in next st.  
7. Repeat for Arm 2 and Arm 3. 
8. Arm 4: Ch 4, dc in 3rd ch from hook; do not sl st.  

Finishing the Starfish

9. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
10. Use the tail to sew the base of each arm securely to the main body. 

Attaching to Paper Clip

11. Thread the top of the paper clip through the bottom of the starfish.  
12. Secure by sewing a few stitches around the base to hold the paper clip in place.
