Chunky Crochet Basket Pattern

Materials:

• Super bulky t-shirt yarn in terracotta color – approximately 150 meters (164 yards).
• Crochet hook size 10mm (N/P-15).
• Stitch marker.

Gauge:

Using single crochet, 7 stitches and 8 rows = 10 cm (4 inches).

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• sl st = slip stitch

Instructions:

Base of the Basket:

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. Round 1: ch 1, work 8 sc into the magic ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (8 sts).
3. Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Sl st to the first sc. (16 sts).
4. Round 3: ch 1, *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* repeat from * to * around. Sl st to the first sc. (24 sts).

Body of the Basket:

6. Round 6: ch 1, working in back loops only, 1 sc in each st around. Sl st to the first sc. (40 sts).
7. Rounds 7-15: ch 1, 1 sc in each st around. Sl st to the first sc. (40 sts). Repeat these rounds to create the body height of the basket.

Finishing:

16. Fasten off and weave in all ends with the tapestry needle.
