Classic Lace Knit Shawl Pattern
Materials
- Yarn: 400g of DK weight yarn in brown
- Needles: US size 8 (5mm) circular needle, 32 inches or longer
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
Gauge
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in lace pattern
Abbreviations
- k: knit
- p: purl
- yo: yarn over
- k2tog: knit two together
- ssk: slip, slip, knit
Instructions
Cast On: Cast on 125 stitches.
Setup Row: (WS) k3, p across to last 3 stitches, k3.
Pattern Repeat:
- Row 1 (RS): k3, *yo, k2tog, k1, ssk, yo*, repeat from * to * across, k3.
- Row 2 (WS): k3, p to last 3 stitches, k3.
- Row 3 (RS): k3, *k1, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo*, repeat from * to * across, k3.
- Row 4 (WS): k3, p to last 3 stitches, k3.
Repeat Rows 1-4 until shawl measures approximately 60 inches long, or desired length.
Finishing: Bind off loosely. Weave in ends using tapestry needle. Block to open up lace pattern.
