Colorful Round Knitted Rug

Materials

• Yarn: Chunky yarn in blue, yellow, purple, white, and pink
• Knitting needles: Size 10mm (US 15)
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• Scissors

Gauge

Approx. 10 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch (knit every row)

Abbreviations

• CO: Cast On
• k: Knit
• BO: Bind Off

Instructions

1. Using blue yarn, CO 5 stitches.
2. Row 1: k all stitches.
3. Row 2: k all stitches, increasing at the beginning and end of the row by knitting front and back (kfb) in the first and last stitches. Total stitches: 7.
4. Continue knitting, increasing 2 stitches every alternate row until you have 10 stitches in total.
5. Switch to yellow yarn and continue in garter stitch (knit every row), maintaining the increase pattern (increase 2 stitches every other row) until the work measures 10 inches in diameter.
6. Switch to purple yarn and repeat the increase pattern until work measures 20 inches in diameter.
7. Continue switching colors every 10 inches using the white and pink yarn while maintaining the increase pattern until the rug measures 40-42 inches in diameter in total.
8. BO: Bind off all stitches loosely.
9. Weave in all ends securely using the tapestry needle.

Finishing

Gently block the rug to shape it, and let dry completely.
