Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in cream, light gray, dark gray
- Crochet hook size H/5.0mm
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
Granny Hexagon:
Make 2:
- With cream, create a magic ring. Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in ring, *ch 1, 3 dc in ring; repeat from * 4 times, ch 1, join with sl st to top of ch-3. (6 clusters)
- Sl st in next 2 dc, sl st in ch-1 space, ch 3, 2 dc in same space, ch 1, 3 dc in same space, *ch 1, [3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc] in next ch-1 space; repeat from * around, join.
- Continue increasing in this pattern, alternating colors as shown in the image, until the hexagon measures desired size or the yoke fits your back/shoulders roughly halfway (about 14–16 inches across).
Construction:
- Fold each hexagon in half to form a right angle. Join two halves together from top to about 7 inches down each edge to form shoulder seams.
Sleeves:
- Attach yarn in any armhole edge, ch 3, and work 3 dc clusters evenly spaced around armhole. Join with sl st.
- Continue working rounds in dc clusters, decreasing slightly at the underarm section if needed, until the sleeve measures desired length.
Border:
- With cream, attach yarn at the bottom hem. Work a round of single crochet evenly along front opening and hem.
- Next, ch 3, *sc in next st, shell (5 dc) in following st, repeat from * around entire edge. Join and fasten off.
Finishing:
- Weave in all loose ends.
- Block your cardigan to shape.
