- Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Finished Size:
Square measures approximately 12 inches by 12 inches.
Gauge:
12 dc and 8 rows = 4 inches
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- rnd = round
Instructions:
Base Loop (Make 2 in Color A, 1 in Color B, 1 in Color C):
- Ch 76. Join with sl st to form a ring, being careful not to twist.
- Rnd 1: Ch 2 (counts as dc), dc in each ch around, join with sl st to first dc. (76 dc)
- Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc in same st as joining, *dc in next 18 sts, 5 dc in next st, dc in next 18 sts*, repeat from * to * once, join with sl st to first dc.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembling the Square:
- Lay one of the Color A loops flat. Weave the Color B loop through it, positioning it at a 90-degree angle.
- Weave a second Color A loop through the Color B loop, aligning it parallel to the first Color A loop.
- Add the Color C loop by weaving it through both Color A loops and alternating the inclusion of the Color B loop, creating the interlocking pattern.
- Ensure all loops are flat and evenly spaced.
Border (Using Color D):
- Attach Color D yarn to any corner of the assembled square.
- Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around the square, working 3 sc in each corner, join with sl st to first sc.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends securely.
Finishing:
Block the square to size and shape if desired to ensure crisp edges and a polished look.
