Materials Needed
- Worsted weight yarn: Cream, Green, and Red
- Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
- st(s): stitch(es)
Instructions
Toe & Foot
- With Green yarn, make a magic ring, ch 1, and work 6 sc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (6 sts)
- Round 1: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join. (12 sts)
- Round 2: Ch 1, [1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] around. Join. (18 sts)
- Round 3: Ch 1, [1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] around. Join. (24 sts)
Continue in this pattern, increasing evenly each round until the toe measures approximately 3.5 inches in diameter.
- Switch to Cream yarn.
- Work even in sc through the back loops only until the foot measures 7 inches from the tip of the toe.
Heel
- Switch to Green yarn.
- Work in rows on 12 sts. Work 2 sc rows. Bind off and sew the heel closed.
Leg & Cuff
- Join Cream yarn and work evenly in rounds of sc for 7 inches.
Bobble Trim
- Attach Red yarn, work [hdc, bobble] around one row.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Ribbed Cuff
- Join Cream yarn, ch 11.
- Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and across. (10 sts)
- Continue in ribbing pattern for desired cuff length, sew cuff to top of stocking.
Finishing
- Attach a loop for hanging by chaining 12 sts and sewing securely to the cuff.
- Weave in all ends.
