Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in your chosen color (approximately 400 yards)
• 6.0 mm (J-10) crochet hook
• Stitch marker
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle

Gauge

12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.

Instructions

Base

1. Chain 4, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), 11 double crochets in the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain-3. (12 stitches)
3. Round 2: Chain 3, 1 double crochet in the same stitch, *2 double crochets in each stitch around. Join. (24 stitches)
4. Round 3: Chain 3, *1 double crochet in the next stitch, 2 double crochets in the next stitch; repeat from * around. Join. (36 stitches)
5. Round 4: Chain 3, *1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 double crochets in the next stitch; repeat from * around. Join. (48 stitches)

Sides

1. Round 5: Chain 3, double crochet in each stitch around. Join.
2. Round 6: Chain 3, *front post double crochet (FPDC) around the next stitch, back post double crochet (BPDC) around the next stitch; repeat from * around. Join.
3. Round 7: Chain 3, *double crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, FPDC around the next stitch, BPDC around the next stitch; repeat from * around. Join.
4. Round 8-12: Repeat Round 6 for 5 more rounds.

Finishing

1. Fasten off and weave in all ends using a tapestry needle.
2. Optionally, add handles by chain 15 and slip stitch to the basket at desired points on the side.
