Materials Needed:

• Yarn: DK weight in various pastel colors for flowers, green for base, and a complementary hue for the border.

Instructions:

Floral Motif

1. Center: With yellow yarn, create a magic ring. Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), work 15 hdc into ring. Join with sl st to top of ch-2. Fasten off.
2. Petals: Join color of choice, ch 2, work (1 dc, ch 1) in same st, (2 dc, ch 1) in each around. Join with sl st to top of ch-2. Fasten off.
3. Background: Join green yarn in any ch-1 space, ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same space (corner made). *(3 dc in next ch-1 space) across next 2 spaces, [(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-1 space]*. Repeat from * to * around, joining with sl st to top of starting ch-3. Fasten off.

Joining Motifs

As you work the last round of background, join each motif by replacing ch-2 of corners with (sl st, ch 1, sl st to next motif, ch 1).

Border

With complementary yarn, join in any corner. Work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each corner, and ch 3 between corners, sc in ch-1 spaces across edges. Work 3 rounds like this, finishing with a scallop border: *(sc, 5 dc, sc) in ch-2 spaces*. Join and fasten off.

Weave in all ends carefully using a tapestry needle.
