Materials Needed

• Lion Brand Yarn in various colors (use colors similar to red, green, blue, beige, cream, and brown)
• Crochet hook size J (6.0 mm)
• Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

• ch: chain
• sl st: slip stitch
• sc: single crochet
• dc: double crochet

Granny Square Pattern

1. Round 1: With your chosen color, ch 4, sl st into the first ch to form a ring. Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 2 dc into the ring, *ch 2, 3 dc into the ring*; repeat from * to * 2 more times, ch 2, sl st to top of starting ch-3. (12 dc, 4 ch-2 sp)
2. Round 2: Sl st to the next ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same ch-2 sp, ch 1, *3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 1*; repeat from * to * around, sl st to top of starting ch-3. (24 dc, 8 ch-1 sp)
3. Round 3: Sl st to the first corner ch-1 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp, ch 1, *3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next corner sp, ch 1*; repeat from * to * around, sl st to top of starting ch-3. (36 dc, 8 ch-1 sp)
4. Round 4: Repeat Round 3, making sure to add 3 dc in each ch-1 sp around and following the same corner pattern. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Afghan Layout
