Crocheted Red Mushroom Amigurumi Pattern

Materials

  • Medium weight acrylic yarn in red (for the cap)
  • Medium weight acrylic yarn in white (for the stem and spots)
  • G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Gauge

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but a tighter stitch will help keep the stuffing from showing through. Aim for about 5 stitches per inch in single crochet.

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec = decrease (sc 2 stitches together)
  • st = stitch

Instructions

Cap

  1. With red yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in the magic ring. (6 st)
  3. Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12 st)
  4. Round 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around. (18 st)
  5. Round 4: *2 sc, inc* repeat around. (24 st)
  6. Round 5: *3 sc, inc* repeat around. (30 st)
  7. Rounds 6-8: Sc in each stitch around. (30 st)
  8. Round 9: *3 sc, dec* repeat around. (24 st)
  9. Round 10: *2 sc, dec* repeat around. (18 st)
  10. Round 11: *1 sc, dec* repeat around. (12 st)
  11. Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave in the end.

Spots

Make 3 small white spots:

  1. With white yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in the magic ring. (6 st)
  3. Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Cut yarn.

Stem

  1. With white yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in the magic ring. (6 st)
  3. Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12 st)
  4. Round 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around. (18 st)
  5. Round 4: Sc in each stitch around. (18 st)
  6. Round 5: *1 sc, dec* repeat around. (12 st)
  7. Round 6: Sc in each stitch around. (12 st)
  8. Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Do not stuff the stem.

Assembly

  1. Stuff the cap lightly with fiberfill and sew it to the top of the stem using the tails left from finishing off.
  2. Attach the white spots to the cap in random positions using the yarn tails.
  3. Weave in all ends securely and trim excess yarn.
