Puppet Instructions
1. General Puppet Base (for all puppets)
- Start with the base color yarn (e.g., yellow for the lion).
- Make a magic ring and ch 2 (counts as first dc).
- Round 1: 10 dc in magic ring. Pull to tighten and join with a sl st to the top of the first dc.
- Round 2: Ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around (20 sts), join.
- Round 3: Ch 2, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*, repeat from * to * around (30 sts), join.
- Round 4-10: Ch 2, dc in each st around (30 sts), join.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
2. Lion Puppet:
- With brown yarn, create the mane:
- Attach new yarn in any stitch and ch 5. Sl st back in the first ch to create a loop.
- Repeat around the head (using 10 loops total), then secure and weave in ends.
- For the facial features, use black yarn to embroider two eyes and a small triangle for the nose.
3. Striped Cat Puppet:
- With white yarn, create the base, then alternate between black and gray yarn to create stripes around the body (one round each color, repeating 4 times).
- For the ears, using gray yarn:
- Ch 4, sl st to form a ring; ch 3, then 3 dc in the ring. Join and fasten.
- Attach to top of the head.
- Embroider a cute pink nose and whiskers with black yarn.
4. Colorful Creature Puppet:
- Using various yarn colors, make colorful stripes in rounds, alternating every 3 rounds until the desired height.
- Add googly eyes or embroider large eyes with contrasting colors for a playful look.
- For arms and legs, chain 12 and sc back and forth until reaching a short length, then attach to the sides of the puppet.
