DIY Color Block Crop Top
This fashionable crop top is perfect for an easy yet stylish summer look. The color block design features soft shades of blue, making it versatile and perfect for warm weather. Follow these detailed instructions to create a unique piece that you can wear with confidence!
Materials Needed:
- Yarn: Three shades of worsted weight cotton yarn (light blue, medium blue, dark blue) - approximately 100 yards total
- Crochet hook: Size H (5.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Measuring tape
Gauge:
12 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- dc - double crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- st - stitch
- rs - right side
Instructions:
Back Panel:
- Using the light blue yarn, make a slip knot and ch 36.
- Row 1: In the 4th ch from hook, dc. Dc in each ch across (34 dc). Turn.
- Row 2-8: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each st across. Turn.
- Change to medium blue yarn.
- Row 9-15: Repeat Row 2 instructions with medium blue. Turn.
- Change to dark blue yarn.
- Row 16-22: Repeat Row 2 instructions with dark blue. Turn.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Front Panel:
- Using the light blue yarn, make a slip knot and ch 36.
- Repeat Row 1-8 of Back Panel.
- Change to medium blue yarn and repeat Row 9-15 of Back Panel.
- Change to dark blue yarn and repeat Row 16-22 of Back Panel.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly:
- Place the back and front panels together with the right sides facing each other.
- Using the light blue yarn, join the panels by sl st along the side edges for about 4 inches on each side (these will be the armholes).
- Turn the top right side out.
Straps:
- With the dark blue yarn, attach yarn at the top corners of the back panel.
- Ch 50 (or desired length) for straps and sl st to attach on the opposite side. Repeat for the other side.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle. Your trendy color block crop top is complete! Enjoy wearing it to summer picnics, beach parties, or casual outings!
