Stars and Stripes Celebration Bunting

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in Red, White, and Blue (100% acrylic, 1 skein each)
  • 4 mm (US G/6) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving ends
  • Measuring tape

Gauge

Gauge is not critical for this project. Aim for approximately 4 inches of bunting triangle equals 10 stitches across.

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • FO = fasten off

Instructions

Triangle Bunting Pieces

Make 7 triangles: 3 Red, 3 Blue, 1 White

  1. With Red yarn, ch 4.
  2. Row 1: dc in the 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, dc in same ch. (2 dc)
  3. Row 2: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in first st, dc in next st, 2 dc in last st. (4 dc)
  4. Row 3: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in first st, 2 dc in next two sts, 2 dc in last st. (6 dc)
  5. Continue increasing in this manner until you have 12 dc (about 5 rows for Red and Blue, 7 rows for White).
  6. Finish off each triangle and weave in ends.

Assembly

  1. Using a long piece of White yarn, join each triangle to form a string of bunting.
  2. Leave approximately 12 inches between each triangle for spacing.
  3. Once desired length is achieved, fasten off yarn and weave ends.
