Striped Cowl Scarf Pattern
Materials Needed:
- 4 skeins of worsted weight yarn in three colors (light brown, dark brown, cream).
- Size 8 (5.0 mm) knitting needles.
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends.
- Scissors.
Gauge:
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.
Abbreviations:
- CO: Cast On
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- St(s): Stitch(es)
- BO: Bind Off
Instructions:
- Cast On: Start by casting on 60 stitches using the light brown yarn.
- Ribbing (Optional): To create a nice edge, you can work in a k2, p2 ribbing for the first 5 rows.
- Body of Scarf:
- Row 1: K all stitches.
- Row 2: P all stitches.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until you reach approximately 12 inches of fabric.
- Switch Colors: Change to the dark brown yarn.
- Continue the same pattern (Rows 1 and 2) for another 12 inches.
- Last Color Change: Switch to the cream yarn.
- Repeat the same pattern for another 12 inches to finish off the scarf.
- Bind Off: After the last section, bind off all stitches loosely.
- Finishing: Weave in all loose ends with a yarn needle. Block the scarf slightly if desired to even out the stitches.
Size:
The finished cowl scarf will be approximately 36 inches in circumference and 12 inches in width, making it snug and warm.
Care Instructions:
Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry.
