Instructions

Fox Square

1. With soft beige yarn, ch 24 and dc in the 4th ch from the hook. Dc in each ch across (22 dc). Turn.
2. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next st; repeat from * across. Turn.
3. Row 3: Change to rust orange yarn. Ch 3, dc in each dc, placing sc in each ch-1 space. Turn.
4. Rows 4-8: Continue with rust orange, dc across each row. Turn after each row.
5. Row 9: Change to white yarn. Ch 3, 12 dc across, then switch back to rust; dc in the remaining st.(14 dc). Turn.
6. Row 10-12: Repeat row 9, adding color to shape the fox's face by using the white for the muzzle and the dark brown for the eyes.
7. Row 13-16: Add leafy elements using leaf green yarn, working sc and dc for texture around the fox to create foliage.
8. Final Row: With beige yarn, add a border of sc around the entire square, to finish off and stabilize the edges.
9. Weave in all ends and block the square to flatten.
