Step-by-Step Instructions

Base of Bag

  1. With color A (taupe), make a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: Chain 1, then make 6 single crochets (sc) in the ring. Join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first sc. (Total: 6 sts)
  3. Round 2: Chain 1, then make 2 sc in each stitch around. Join. (Total: 12 sts)
  4. Round 3: Chain 1, then (sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch) around. Join. (Total: 18 sts)
  5. Round 4: Chain 1, then (sc in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch) around. Join. (Total: 24 sts)
  6. Round 5: Chain 1, then (sc in the next 3 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch) around. Join. (Total: 30 sts)
  7. Continue increasing in this pattern until the base measures approximately 12 inches in diameter.

Body of Bag

  1. Change to color B (olive), chain 1, then sc in each stitch around. Join.
  2. Repeat the previous step, alternating colors C (sand) and D (clay) every 2 rounds, until the body measures 15 inches tall.

Handles

  1. With color A (taupe), chain 60.
  2. Skip 15 stitches on the bag, attach with a slip stitch to the next stitch.
  3. Chain 1, then sc in each chain across. Attach with a slip stitch to the opposite side of the bag.
  4. Repeat for the other handle.

Fringe

  1. Cut strands of yarn in all four colors, each 12 inches long.
  2. Attach fringe along the bottom edge of the bag by folding each strand in half and pulling the loop through a stitch, then pulling the ends through the loop to secure.
  3. Trim fringe to your desired length.

Finishing

  1. Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle to secure your work and give it a polished look.
