Cozy Knit Ribbed Scarf Pattern

This ribbed scarf is not only warm but also stylish, featuring a beautiful ribbing pattern that creates texture and interest. It’s perfect for cold weather and makes a lovely gift!

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn (approx. 200 yards) in a solid color, such as dark grey
  • Knitting needles size 8 (5 mm)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge:

20 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch. Gauge is not critical for this scarf, but it will affect the finished size.

Abbreviations:

  • CO - Cast On
  • k - Knit
  • p - Purl
  • st(s) - Stitch(es)
  • BO - Bind Off

Instructions:

  1. Cast On: CO 30 stitches to your needles. This will give you a nice width for the scarf.
  2. Row 1: *K1, p1; repeat from * to end of row. This creates the ribbing texture.
  3. Row 2: K1, *p1, k1; repeat from * to end of row.
  4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2: Continue alternating between Row 1 and Row 2 until the scarf measures approximately 60 inches long, or your desired length.
  5. Bind Off: Once the scarf has reached your desired length, BO all stitches loosely. To BO, knit 2 stitches, then lift the first stitch over the second and off the needle. Continue until all stitches are bound off.
  6. Weave in Ends: Use your tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends from the cast on and bind off. Make sure they are secured and trim any excess yarn.

Finishing Touches:

Gently block your scarf by laying it flat and shaping it to your desired dimensions. Allow it to dry completely before wearing.

This ribbed scarf is soft, warm, and perfect for any occasion. Enjoy your new accessory!
