Crochet Bunny Holding Carrot Pattern

This cute crochet bunny is perfect for beginners and will surely bring a smile to anyone's face. The bunny is created using simple crochet techniques and comes complete with a tiny carrot that the bunny can hold.

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn in white, orange, and pink (or colors of your choice)
  • 4mm (G) crochet hook
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Black embroidery thread (optional, for eyes)
  • Safety eyes (optional)

Gauge:

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but you should aim for 4 inches = 12 stitches in double crochet. Adjust your hook size if necessary.

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in one stitch)
  • dec = decrease (2 stitches crocheted together)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st = stitch
  • Rnd = round

Body:

  1. With white yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  3. Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (12)
  4. Rnd 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around (18)
  5. Rnd 4: *2 sc, inc* repeat around (24)
  6. Rnds 5-10: sc in each st around (24 for 6 rounds)
  7. Rnd 11: *2 sc, dec* repeat around (18)
  8. Rnd 12: *1 sc, dec* repeat around (12)
  9. Stuff the body lightly with fiberfill.
  10. Rnd 13: Dec around (6)
  11. Fasten off and weave in the end.

Head:

  1. Repeat the body pattern for the head (Rnd 1 to Rnd 10).
  2. Rnds 11-12: *1 sc, dec* repeat around (12, then 6).
  3. Stuff the head lightly.
  4. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing to the body.

Ears (make 2):

  1. With white yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Rnd 1: 5 sc in magic ring (5)
  3. Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (10)
  4. Rnd 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around (15)
  5. Rnd 4: 1 sc in each st for 5 rounds.
  6. Switch to pink yarn and continue for 2 more rounds (without increases or decreases).
  7. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew the ears on the head, placing them on top slightly slanted.

Carrot:

  1. With orange yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  3. Rnd 2: *1 sc, inc* repeat around (9)
  4. Rnds 3-4: sc in each st around (9 for 2 rounds)
  5. Switch to green yarn: Ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in the last ch. Fold over and attach to the top of the carrot.
  6. Fasten off and securely attach the carrot to the bunny’s paw.

Finishing Touches:

  1. Using black embroidery thread, stitch the eyes or attach safety eyes.
  2. Embroider the nose using pink yarn.
  3. Weave in all ends and enjoy your cute bunny!
