Crochet Color Block Bikini Top

Materials Needed:

  • Polyester or cotton yarn in three colors: Light Blue, Dark Blue, and Aqua (approximately 100g each).
  • Hook: 4.5 mm.
  • Scissors.
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
  • Measuring tape.

Gauge:

16 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in single crochet. Gauge is important for sizing; adjust hook size if necessary to match.

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • sts = stitches

Instructions:

Base:

  1. Start with the Light Blue yarn. Chain 30 (this is for the width of the top).
  2. Row 1: In the 2nd chain from the hook, sc in each chain across. (29 sc)
  3. Row 2-4: Ch 1, turn, sc across. Repeat this for a total of 4 rows to build the base.

Color Change to Aqua:

  1. Row 5: Change to Aqua yarn. Ch 1, turn, sc across.
  2. Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc across.

Color Change to Dark Blue:

  1. Row 7: Change to Dark Blue yarn. Ch 1, turn, sc across.
  2. Row 8: Ch 1, turn, hdc across (this gives a slight curve to the top).
  3. Row 9: Ch 1, turn, sc across.

Shaping the Cups:

  1. Row 10: Ch 1, turn, sc in the first 10 sts, ch 6 (to create a tie), skip the next 9 sts, sc in the remaining 10 sts.
  2. Row 11: Sc across.
  3. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Straps:

  1. Using the Light Blue yarn, ch 60. Slip stitch back into the same chain to create a loop for the first strap. Sc across for 3 rows.
  2. Repeat with the Aqua yarn, ch 60, slip stitch into the first chain, and sc for 3 rows.

Assembly:

  1. Attach each strap to the corners of the cups using a sl st. Make sure they are even.
  2. Try on the bikini top and adjust the length of the straps as needed.

Finishing Touches:

Weave in any loose ends with the tapestry needle. This bikini top can be paired with high-waisted shorts or a bikini bottom of your choice!
