Knitted Toy Doll Pattern

This project guides you through making a delightful knitted toy doll. It features bright colors and cute facial details, making it a wonderful gift for children or a lovely companion for any home.

Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in the following colors: White (for body), Light Gray (for pants), Green (for sweater), Red (for hat and mouth), Brown (for eyes), Black (for pupils), and Pink (for nose).

• Fiberfill stuffing

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Abbreviations

• k = knit
• p = purl

• inc = increase
• dec = decrease
• BO = bind off
• CO = cast on

Instructions

Body

1. CO 14 stitches using white yarn.
2. Knit in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl the next) for 12 rows.
3. Next row: k2, inc, k10, inc, k2 (16 stitches).
4. Continue in stockinette stitch until piece measures 6 inches from cast on edge.
5. Begin decreasing: k2, dec, k10, dec, k2 (14 stitches).
6. Repeat decreasing every other row until you have 2 stitches left. Then BO.
7. Stuff the body lightly with fiberfill before closing.

Head

1. CO 12 stitches using white yarn.
2. Knit in stockinette stitch for 8 rows.
3. Next row: k2, inc, k8, inc, k2 (14 stitches).
4. Continue in stockinette until it measures 4 inches.
5. Decrease as in the body until 2 stitches remain. BO.
6. Stuff the head before closing.

Arms (Make 2)

1. CO 8 stitches using green yarn.
2. Knit in stockinette for 4 rows.
3. Dec every other row until 2 stitches remain. BO.
4. Stuff lightly if desired.

Legs (Make 2)

1. CO 8 stitches using light gray yarn.
2. Knit in stockinette for 6 rows.
3. Dec until 2 stitches remain. BO.
4. Do not stuff the legs; leave them flat.

Hat

1. CO 20 stitches using red yarn.
2. Knit in stockinette for 8 rows.
3. Dec every other row until 4 stitches remain. BO and gather closed.

Assembly

1. Attach the head to the body using the tapestry needle.
2. Sew the arms to the sides of the body.
3. Sew the legs to the bottom of the body.
4. Attach the hat to the head.
5. Using the remaining yarn, embroider facial features: use brown for the eyes, pink for the nose, and red for the mouth.

Finishing Touches

1. Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
2. Feel free to add any additional decorations such as glasses using gold thread!
