Crochet Enchanting Textured Hooded Capelet Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 400 yards)
- Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Popcorn stitch (pop): 5 dc in the same stitch, remove hook from the last dc, insert it into the first dc of the group, and pull the last dc through to complete the popcorn.
Gauge:
4 popcorn stitches and 4 rows = 4 inches
Size:
This pattern is designed for a toddler size, approximately ages 2-4 years. Adjustments can be made for different sizes.
Instructions:
Hood:
1. Ch 60 (or desired width). 2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (59 sc). 3. Row 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc across. 4. Row 6: Ch 1, turn, *1 pop in next st, sc in next st*, repeat across. 5. Continue with rows of popcorn until reaching desired height (approximately 10 inches). 6. Fold in half and sl st the edges together to form the hood.Capelet Body:
1. Ch 70 for the main body. 2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (69 sc). 3. Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc across. 4. Row 3: Ch 1, turn, *1 pop in next st, sc in next st*, repeat across. 5. Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the capelet reaches the desired length (approximately 18 inches). 6. For the last row, sc across without popcorns for a smoother finish.Assembly:
1. With the right side facing, align the hood to the center back of the capelet. 2. Using sl st, attach the hood along the edge of the capelet. 3. For a finishing touch, chain 30 for a tie and attach it to the front of the capelet. 4. Make tassels if desired and attach them to the ends of the ties.Finishing:
Weave in all ends. Block the capelet gently to shape as desired.Enjoy your delightful creation!
