  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape

Stitches Used:

  • Chain (ch)
  • Slip stitch (sl st)

Gauge:

4 popcorn stitches and 4 rows = 4 inches

Size:

This pattern is designed for a toddler size, approximately ages 2-4 years. Adjustments can be made for different sizes.

Instructions:

Hood:

1. Ch 60 (or desired width). 2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (59 sc). 3. Row 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc across. 4. Row 6: Ch 1, turn, *1 pop in next st, sc in next st*, repeat across. 5. Continue with rows of popcorn until reaching desired height (approximately 10 inches). 6. Fold in half and sl st the edges together to form the hood.

Capelet Body:

1. Ch 70 for the main body. 2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (69 sc). 3. Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc across. 4. Row 3: Ch 1, turn, *1 pop in next st, sc in next st*, repeat across. 5. Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the capelet reaches the desired length (approximately 18 inches). 6. For the last row, sc across without popcorns for a smoother finish.

Assembly:

1. With the right side facing, align the hood to the center back of the capelet. 2. Using sl st, attach the hood along the edge of the capelet. 3. For a finishing touch, chain 30 for a tie and attach it to the front of the capelet. 4. Make tassels if desired and attach them to the ends of the ties.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends. Block the capelet gently to shape as desired.

Enjoy your delightful creation!
