[3 dc into the ring, chain 2] three more times. You should now have 4 clusters of 3 dc, separated by ch-2 spaces.
  • Join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the top of the beginning chain-3.
  • Fasten off Color A and weave in the end.
  • Round 2 (Color B - Orange):

    1. Join Color B in any ch-2 corner space using a slip stitch.
    2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc). Work 2 dc in the same corner space. Chain 1.
    3. In the next corner space: work [3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc]. Chain 1.
    4. Repeat step 3 in each of the remaining two corner spaces.
    5. To finish the round, work 3 dc in the starting corner space, chain 2, and join with a sl st to the top of the beginning chain-3.
    6. Fasten off Color B and weave in the end. You should now have 8 clusters of 3 dc total.

    Round 3 (Color C - Yellow):

    1. Join Color C in any ch-2 corner space.
    2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc). Work 2 dc in the same corner space. Chain 1.
    3. Work 3 dc in the next ch-1 space (this is the space between the corner clusters from Round 2). Chain 1.
    4. In the next corner space: work [3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc]. Chain 1.
    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 around the square. You'll work 3 dc in each side ch-1 space and the corner treatment in each corner.
    6. To finish, work 3 dc in the starting corner space, chain 2, and join with a sl st to the top of the beginning chain-3.
    7. Fasten off Color C and weave in the end. You should now have 12 clusters of 3 dc.

    Round 4 (Color D - Green):

    1. Join Color D in any ch-2 corner space.
    2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc). Work 2 dc in the same corner space. Chain 1.
    3. Work 3 dc in the next ch-1 space. Chain 1. Work 3 dc in the following ch-1 space. Chain 1.
    4. In the next corner space: work [3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc]. Chain 1.
    5. Continue around the square, working 3 dc in each side ch-1 space and the corner treatment in each corner.
    6. To finish, work 3 dc in the starting corner space, chain 2, and join with a sl st to the top of the beginning chain-3.
    7. Fasten off Color D and weave in the end. You should now have 16 clusters of 3 dc.

    Round 5 (Color E - Blue):

    1. Join Color E in any ch-2 corner space.
    2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc). Work 2 dc in the same corner space. Chain 1.
    3. Work 3 dc in each of the next three ch-1 spaces, with a chain 1 between each cluster.
    4. In the next corner space: work [3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc]. Chain 1.
    5. Continue around the square, working 3 dc in each side ch-1 space and the corner treatment in each corner.
    6. To finish, work 3 dc in the starting corner space, chain 2, and join with a sl st to the top of the beginning chain-3.
    7. Fasten off Color E and weave in the end. You should now have 20 clusters of 3 dc.

    Round 6 (Color F - Purple) & Edging:

    1. Join Color F in any ch-2 corner space.
    2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc). Work 2 dc in the same corner space. Chain 1.
    3. Work 3 dc in each of the next four ch-1 spaces, with a chain 1 between each cluster.
    4. In the next corner space: work [3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc]. Chain 1.
    5. Continue around the square, working 3 dc in each side ch-1 space and the corner treatment in each corner.
    6. To finish, work 3 dc in the starting corner space, chain 2, and join with a sl st to the top of the beginning chain-3. Do NOT fasten off.
    7. Edging: Chain 1. Work a single crochet (sc) in each dc and in each ch-1 space around the entire square. In each corner ch-2 space, work [sc, chain 2, sc]
