Step-by-Step Instructions

Notes

This pattern uses the mosaic overlay technique, working in the back loop only (BLO) for the main color and front loop only (FLO) for the contrast color. The holder is worked in the round from the bottom up. All rounds are joined with a slip stitch to the first stitch of the round unless otherwise noted.

Bottom (Base)

Round 1: With Color A, make a magic ring. Work 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring. Pull the tail to tighten the ring closed. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (8 stitches)

Round 2: Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch). Work 2 sc in each stitch around. Join. (16 stitches)

Round 3: Chain 1. *Sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch* repeat from * to * around. Join. (24 stitches)

Round 4: Chain 1. *Sc in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch* repeat from * to * around. Join. (32 stitches)

Round 5: Chain 1. *Sc in the next 3 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch* repeat from * to * around. Join. (40 stitches)

Round 6: Chain 1. *Sc in the next 4 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch* repeat from * to * around. Join. (48 stitches)

Round 7: Chain 1. Sc in each stitch around. Join. (48 stitches)

Body (Mosaic Pattern)

Round 8: With Color A, chain 1. Sc in the back loop only (BLO) of each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (48 stitches)

Round 9: With Color B, chain 1. *Sc in the front loop only (FLO) of the next stitch, sc in the back loop only (BLO) of the next stitch* repeat from * to * around. Join. (48 stitches)

Round 10: With Color A, chain 1. Sc in the back loop only (BLO) of each stitch around. Join. (48 stitches)

Round 11: With Color C, chain 1. *Sc in the front loop only (FLO) of the next stitch, sc in the back loop only (BLO) of the next stitch* repeat from * to * around. Join. (48 stitches)

Rounds 12-23: Repeat Rounds 8-11 three more times, alternating colors as desired. You can create a pattern by repeating the sequence or varying the order. For example, you might use Color A for Rounds 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22; Color B for Rounds 9, 13, 17, 21; and Color C for Rounds 11, 15, 19, 23. After completing Round 23, you will have 16 rounds of mosaic pattern.

Round 24: With Color A, chain 1. Sc in the back loop only (BLO) of each stitch around. Join. (48 stitches)

Top Edge

Round 25: Chain 1. Sc in each stitch around (working through both loops). Join. (48 stitches)

Round 26: Chain 1. Sc in each stitch around. Join. Fasten off and weave in all ends securely.

Strap

With Color A, chain 6.

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across. (5 stitches)

Rows 2-80: Chain 1, turn. Sc in each stitch across. (5 stitches)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail (about 12 inches) for sewing. Fold the strap in half lengthwise to check length—it should be long enough to go over your shoulder or across your body. Adjust the number of rows if needed.

Sew the strap ends to opposite sides of the top edge of the holder, positioning them evenly. Ensure the strap is securely attached by sewing through both the strap and the top edge stitches. Weave in all ends.

Your Seaglass Mosaic Bottle Carrier is complete! Enjoy carrying your water bottle in style.
