Crochet Elegant Openwork Capelet Free Pattern
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 600-800 yards)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
Gauge: 14 double crochets and 8 rows = 4 inches in lace pattern
Size: One size fits most (easy to adjust for a custom fit)
Instructions:
Body:
- Chain 85 (or adjust for your desired width).
- Row 1: DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in next 10 chains. *Chain 3, skip 3 chains, DC in next 11 chains; repeat from * until 3 chains remain. DC in last 3 chains. Turn.
- Row 2: Chain 3, (DC in chain-3 space, chain 3) across to last chain-3 space. DC in last DC. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until capelet measures approximately 20 inches from the starting chain.
Neckline:
- Switch to a smaller hook (if desired) and evenly space single crochet around the neckline. Join with a slip stitch.
- Chain 1, SC in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first SC. Fasten off.
Finishing:
- Weave in all ends securely using a yarn needle.
- Lightly block the capelet to enhance the lace pattern.
