Festive Whimsical Holiday Tree Hat with Twinkling Star

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in green, red, yellow, blue, and white
• Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Instructions:

Hat Body:

1. Start with a magic ring and ch 2. Work 10 dc into the ring. Pull tight to close. Join with a sl st. (10 st)
2. Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around. Join. (20 st)
3. Round 3: Ch 2, *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*, repeat from * around. Join. (30 st)
4. Round 4-10: Ch 2, dc in each st around. Join. (30 st)
5. Round 11: Change to decorative color (red), ch 1, sc in each st around. Join. (30 st)
6. Round 12: Repeat Round 11 using white. (30 st)
7. Round 13: Switch back to green yarn. Work in sc until reaching desired height for your hat (about 4 inches). End and fasten off.

Tree Decorations:

1. Using blue and yellow yarn, create small pom-poms (4) for ornaments and attach them evenly spaced around the hat.
2. For a tree trunk, make a small rectangle with brown yarn and sew onto the bottom of the hat.

Star Decoration:

1. Starting with yellow yarn, ch 5 and join to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 2, 5 dc in the ring, pull tight. Join.
3. Round 2: Ch 1, *1 sc in each st*. Repeat around. Attach with a sl st. (5 st)
4. Stuff lightly with polyfill. Sew or glue the star securely to the top of the hat.
