Skill Level: Beginner
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx. 100-150 yards)
- H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge: 12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in double crochet
Instructions:
Foundation Row:
Ch 14.
Row 1:
Dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across. (12 dc)
Row 2:
Ch 2, turn. Bpdc in the first dc, fpdc in the next, repeat across until the end. (12 stitches)
Row 3:
Ch 2, turn. Bpdc in the first fpdc, fpdc in the next bpdc, repeat until the end. (12 stitches)
Repeat Rows 2 and 3:
Continue alternating rows until the piece measures approximately 22 inches long, or until it wraps comfortably around your head and overlaps slightly.
Twist and Join:
To form the headband, twist one end of the piece over the other and join the ends together using slip stitch or whip stitch. Make sure the twist is secure and looks neat.
Finishing:
Fasten off and weave in ends using the tapestry needle.
Optional: Adding a Bow:
To create a bow, chain 5, turn and dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, ch 1, turn, repeat until the desired width.
Sew the bow to the front of the headband for an adorable finishing touch!
