Textured Twisted Cable Inspire Beanie
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (200 yards)
- 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook
- Stitch marker
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge: 14 DC x 10 rows = 4" square
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sl st - slip stitch
- dc - double crochet
- fpdc - front post double crochet
- bpdc - back post double crochet
Instructions:
Brim:
- Ch 10.
- Row 1: In 2nd ch from hook, dc across (9 dc). Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 2, fpdc around each dc across (9 fpdc). Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 2, bpdc around each fpdc across (9 bpdc). Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the band measures approximately 20" long. Join ends with a sl st, forming a ring.
Main Body:
- Row 1: Ch 2, dc in each stitch around (9 dc total). Join with sl st to top of first dc.
- Row 2: Ch 2, *fpdc around next 2 dc, dc in next stitch; repeat from * around. Join.
- Row 3: Ch 2, *bpdc around next 2 fpdc, dc in next stitch; repeat from * around. Join.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until beanie measures 9" from the top of the brim.
Crown:
- Begin decreasing: Row 1: Ch 2, *dc in next stitch, dc2tog; repeat from * around. Join.
- Row 2: Ch 2, *dc in next 2 stitches, dc2tog; repeat from * around. Join.
- Row 3: Ch 2, *dc in next stitch, dc2tog; repeat from * around. Join.
- Row 4: Ch 2, dc2tog around. Join.
- Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread yarn through remaining stitches and pull tight to close the crown.
Finishing:
- Weave in all ends with the yarn needle.
- Block if desired to achieve a nice shape.
