Textured Twisted Cabled Beanie
Materials Needed:
- Medium weight yarn (approximately 200 yards)
- 6 mm (J) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
12 stitches and 8 rows = 4 inches in twisted cable pattern
Pattern Instructions:
Brim:
- Make a slip knot and chain 10.
- Row 1: HDC in the 2nd chain from hook and across. (9 HDC)
- Row 2-6: Chain 1, turn, HDC in each stitch across.
- Leave a long tail for sewing. Fold and seam the short ends together to form a loop.
Main Body:
- Switch yarn to the body color and crochet into the brim.
- Row 1: Chain 1, and work 9 HDC across the brim opening.
- Row 2: Chain 2 (counts as first DC), DC into next stitch, then FPDC (front post double crochet) in the next, repeat until the end. (9 stitches)
- Row 3: Chain 2, then work a TC (triple crochet) in the next, followed by 1 HDC in the next stitches to form a textured look.
- Row 4-12: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 alternately until reaching the desired height (about 8 inches).
Crown Decrease:
- Row 1: *DC in next 4 stitches, then DC 2 together; repeat from * till the end. (7 stitches left)
- Row 2: *DC in next 3 stitches, then DC 2 together; repeat from * till the end. (5 stitches left)
- Row 3: *DC in next 2 stitches, then DC 2 together; repeat from * till the end. (3 stitches left)
- Row 4: *DC 2 together until the last stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Optional Pom Pom:
Create a pom pom using remaining yarn and attach it to the top of the beanie for a playful touch.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends, turn the beanie right side out, and enjoy your beautiful new accessory!
