Textured Twists and Whimsical Pompom Beanie Pattern

Materials:

• Bulky yarn (approx. 100 yards)
• Q (15 mm) crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle
• Pompom maker (optional)

Gauge:

6 stitches and 5 rows = 4 inches in twisted stitch pattern.

Size:

Adult size, stretches for larger heads.

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Single Crochet (sc)
• Double Crochet (dc)
• Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc)
• Back Post Double Crochet (bpdc)

Instructions:

Brim:

1. Ch 6.
2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (5 sc)
3. Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.
4. Repeat Row 2 until you have 6 inches of length.
5. Join ends with slip stitch to form a ring. Ch 1.

Main Body:

1. Round 1: Work 60 sc evenly around the brim. Join with a slip stitch.
2. Round 2: Ch 1, *fpdc around the next st, bpdc around the following st; repeat from * around. Join.
3. Repeat Round 2 until your work measures 8 inches from brim.

Decreasing for Top:

1. Round 1: Ch 1, *fpdc, bpdc, fpdc, bpdc all together; repeat from * around.
2. Round 2: Ch 1, *fpdc, bpdc; repeat from * around. (30 stitches remain)
3. Round 3: Ch 1, *fpdc, bpdc all together; repeat from * around. (15 stitches remain)
4. Round 4: Ch 1, sc in each st around. (15 stitches remain)
5. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through remaining stitches and pull tight to close. Secure and weave in ends.

Pompom:

1. Use a pompom maker or wrap yarn around your hand 50 times to create a pompom.
2. Tie tightly in the center and trim to desired fluffiness.
3. Attach the pompom to the top of the beanie.

Finishing:

Weave in any loose ends. Wear your trendy beanie with confidence and style!
