Whimsical Autumn Harvest Beanie

Materials Needed:

• Soft worsted weight yarn in Cream (or color of choice), Red, Green, and Brown
• G-6 (4.00mm) crochet hook
• Fabric scissors
• Yarn needle for weaving ends

Sizes:

• 1-3 lb: 8.5-9" circumference, 4" height
• 3-5 lb: 11-11.5" circumference, 5" height
• 6-8 lb: 12-12.5" circumference, 6" height
• 9-11 lb (Newborn): 13-14" circumference, 7" height

Gauge:

4 dc stitches x 2 rows = 1"

Instructions:

Base of Beanie:

Round 1: Ch 4, join to form a ring. Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into the ring (12 dc).
Round 2: 2 dc into each dc around (24 dc).
Round 3: *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc*; repeat around (36 dc).
Round 4: *1 dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc*; repeat around (48 dc).
Round 5-10: Dc in each stitch around for 6 rounds.

Cuff:

Round 11: Ch 1, hdc in each dc around (48 hdc).
Round 12: For the ribbed look, FPDC around the first hdc, BPDC around the next, repeat until the end.  
Continue this pattern for 4 more rounds.

Apple Motifs:

• For each apple: Make a magic ring, ch 2, 6 sc in ring. Pull tight, ss to close. Change to red yarn, then make 1 sc in each sc (6). Finish off.
• For each leaf: Ch 4, in second ch from hook: sc, hdc, dc, ch 1 and sl st to finish. Secure and leave a tail for sewing.

Assembly:

• Sew apples randomly on the beanie.
• Attach leaves above each apple with a few stitches.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends. Block the beanie if necessary.
